What I've Been Up To

Newer happenings listed first.

General update / Nov. 3011
I have decided to remove the "news" section of my site as well as some pages containing excessive amounts of personal information. This was a hard decision because I enjoy having a place where I can talk freely about my adventures, struggles, and insights. I hadn't posted any news updates for a year, though. I suppose I will find another format to do this in, or maybe I will give up doing it online altogether. Maybe it's a vain and pointless activity... or maybe not? I do view the sharing of my somewhat unique personal experience and perspective as one of my beneficial roles in society (dissemination of unusual information), but I want to avoid giving strangers fuel for unhealthy long-distance infatuation, as has happened a few times in the past 3 years. However, I'm sure I will continue writing short essays related to or summarizing my personal experience.

Why do people blog about their personal lives? Is it not to attract attention to their persona and boost their ego? If you have someone in your life with which you share all your experiences and insights, does the impulse to share every life detail on a blog or social network go away?
